- access. open access is via unlocked gate to short pitch into mine level and cave below; OHF was discovered by NWCC in 1978 after taking over an abandoned NPC dig (hence the alternative name!)

OHF is a dynamic system where sediment fills are continually eroding via the active stream system flowing into the Lower Series; this was subject to a major event about 25 years ago when the previous floor of the cave dropped by around 15m to reveal Duck Pot Inlet and a complex of passages beneath the Rock Bridge area
